The hypocritical Cyborg!

Crap!! I was late again! I forgot to set my alarm clock and I had 20 minutes to shower and be out the door. I flew down the stairs and turned the corner sharply just in time to use the indoor plumbing that we have and enjoy the steaming hot shower for all of three minutes. I didn't know what I wanted to wear to school that day but I had to dress nice for a teacher observation day. I threw on some black pants and a nice sweater and was left with ten minutes to get composed before I would be officially late to my first class. Keeping my hair wet was out of the question because it was pretty cold outside, so I plugged in my hair dryer. Suddenly I smelled the faint scent of something burning and realized that my hairdryer was about to blow up on me. Of all of the worst times for it to quit, nothing could have beat this; I had five minutes to be out of my house and my hair was still wet. I ran downstairs to find that my mom's hairdryer was not in its normal place so of course I had to look for it. When what seemed like forever had passed I finally found it and quickly did my best to get my hair dry. I grabbed my book bag and noticed that I had forgotten to charge my laptop over night so it was useless and dead. That was the icing on my cake that morning, I had so much computer work to do and I couldn't take my computer with me because it was not charged and I didn’t want to drag the plug around with me everywhere.

I slammed the car door as I was pulling out of the driveway; I was already ten minutes behind schedule. I decided to listen to the radio on the way there but all of the radio stations were on commercial breaks so I popped in a cd. I felt a little better already because music always cheers me up. My first couple classes were the usual, take notes, talk to the professors and try and learn as much as possible on the spot so it will make for less studying later. Then my first break came and I went straight to the library to check my email because I was waiting to hear back from my advisor to see when I could meet with him. The first computer I sat at was so slow and was not allowing the homepage to even show up. The computers were full so I waited for awhile and then sat at another station as soon as it was empty. To my luck that computer would not let my get into my JCU webmail account. Little did I know that there was a problem campus wide with the computer system and the phone lines. Needless to say I was pretty stressed because I could not check my email accounts, myspace, facebook, bank accounts, or credit card balance. There were so many things on my list of to do's that were not accessible to me because they were all online. How frustrating! The only thing left to do was to call my boyfriend for some good conversation to cheer me up...only I did the unthinkable; I left my cell phone at home.

With all the hustle and bustle I had left my cell phone on my dresser. So here was the rundown: my alarm clock woke me up late, the campus was having problems with their internet service, my laptop wasn't charged so I couldn't bring it with me, I had no way of getting anything done because it is all online, and last but not least, I had no cellphone! Life for me was looking pretty dreary.
I quickly composed myself from my little breakdown and rushed to my last class, math. I pulled out my notebook and started copying the notes on the board when to my great luck the professor walked in and announced a pop quiz. I reluctantly cleared my desk and opened up my calculator.

Just as I was doing so he looked at me and announced to the class that calculators were not allowed. What!?! I was horrible at transposing fractions and now he was asking me to do it by hand. Not only that, but all of the formulas I wanted to check in my calculator by plugging in the numbers for reassurance, but I wasn't even allowed to use it for that purpose. It was like he just expected me to be sure of my self without being dependent on the calculator that I used for everything from homework to in class assignments.
After my horrible day at school I drove home and was pulled over on the way because some police officer was using his laser tracker and "apparently" I was going 20 over the speed limit.

As if my day was not bad enough, I came home and my little brother was blasting his guitar amp because he can't do anything quietly. I quickly ran up to my room and grabbed my cell phone and noticed three missed calls and five text messages, just what I had expected! I turned on some music while I was gathering my homework together and plugged in my laptop to catch up on all of the things that I needed to. After all of that was done and I had returned the appropriate text messages, I felt much better and relaxed.
When everything was said and down and the world was back in perfect harmony I remembered that I was really hungry and decided to get a snack. I walked down stairs and put a bag of popcorn in the microwave, oh how I loved the luxury of instant food. It would have been much nicer if my brother had not been going on and on about his stupid video games. He was always playing them, dreaming about playing them, or talking about playing them. Seriously he needs to grow up, it's like he is part of them and he can’t live with them.

Someone needs to tell him that it is just a piece of technology and life will go on with it! I am so glad that I am not that obsessed, I don't need video games or tv to make me happy! He is such a freaking cyborg!!!!
